Black Ops Cold War Teases All New Dr. Richtofen Zombies Content

An apple a day keep the doctor away - unless it's rotten to the core and tainted with the blood of fallen soldiers. In a field where the poppies honoured the stains of the ground, a single pip was enough to grab the attention of one doctor in particular, who in turn reanimated the corpses of the German troops.

Dr. Richtofen, also known as Eddie, is the first known Call of Duty agent to have contact with the undead. His work on element 115 and the Wunderwaffe at the former Nazi compound Der Reise resulted in limbs resurrecting from the ground.

Since, Richtofen has become a staple mark of the Call of Duty Zombies Chronicles, playing an integral part in both spawning and fighting against the undead, and sometimes himself, spanning across multiple dimensions.

Last seen in Black Ops 4, The Butcher has been missing for some time, but just as Treyarch expands on Outbreak, Die Maschine, and Firebase Z, it appears that Richtofen could be on his way back.

Dr. Richtofen Easter Egg Hints

Treyarch sent out an ominous tweet to the fanbase labelled simply as "Zombies", which many fans now believe is a huge hint towards Dr Richtofen coming to Black Ops Cold War.

The image sent out from the developers contains a sticky note, discussing plans from Omega Group. From what seems like an ordinary note on a more elusive blueprint, the sign-off of "-R" has fans fluttering. Richtofen is known for being rather covert about his identity in certain timelines, and after growing up alongside Maxis in the current universe as Eddie, he could be back to his meddlesome ways.

The most feasible idea is that Richtofen could appear within an Easter Egg, rather than dropping straight in with an operator bundle, considering it took us nearly two months to get the Samantha Maxis skins.

But What about Ravenov?

Ah yes, beneath all of the hype, our directions may be misguided. Should Treyarch be hinting towards the suspected Ural Mountains map following on from Firebase Z, the likelihood is that Sergei Ravenov is the man behind the handwriting.

Ravenov was present to help maxis defeat the giant Orda and zombies that plagued his home village. After successfully slaying the hordes, Ravenov decided to turn down Maxis' invitation to join Requiem, instead, he jetted off to the Ural Mountains.

As we saw in the early stages of Black Ops Cold War and the dying embers of the previous Verdansk map on Warzone, the Ural Mountains could be heavily influential on the overarching Call of Duty storyline, where Ravenov would be instrumental.

However, it wouldn't be like Treyarch to leave behind one of their main characters. Richtofen is out there somewhere, sitting in the shadows and waiting for his time to pounce.
