The Big Boss wants back in. Former Overwatch League player for the New York Excelsior Do-hyeon "Pine" Kim wants to make a comeback, either in Overwatch League or in Overwatch Contenders.

In a tweet, Pine explained his reasoning for a comeback, stating that he had doubts about the manner of his retirement and felt a desire to still compete on stage while watching the recent Overwatch League playoff matches and seeing other players have breakout performances on his signature hero Widowmaker.

He said: "I've been thinking a lot about my retirement. I kept dwelling on whether I made the decision too impulsively or if I retired for the right reasons. I talked a lot about this with both my family and people close to me, and I never stopped thinking about while playing the game and even while going to sleep. A question I asked myself a lot was 'Do I have any regrets on having retired?" Also, while watching the most recent OWL matches, I've thought "I want to be play there again" a lot as well."

During his time in the Overwatch League, Pine had become a fan favourite for his highly aggressive and mechanically skilled playstyle on hitscan heroes, taking unorthodox flanks to win fights for the NYXL. During season 1 of the Overwatch League, he had been played as a joker by the Excelsior, frequently coming in for game 5 of a series to be the difference-maker on control maps with his McCree or Widowmaker play.

After season 2 in which he had not been fielded for the NYXL, Pine announced his retirement from the pro scene and moved to streaming where he became part of NYXL's parent company Andbox.

How likely it is that Pine will be picked up by an Overwatch League team is unknown, with his skillset being a determining factor. In the third season of the Overwatch League, players like Eui-Seok "Fearless" Lee and Seb "numlocked" Barton managed to rejoin the Overwatch League, with the former now being in the position to win the title.
