Statistically, it’s incredibly likely that as a gamer, you have a copy of Skyrim. It might sound wild, but the sales of the Elder Scrolls title have been so impressive over its many years of existence and many reissues, it's unlikely you’ve never touched the game.

The open-world fantasy title has made its name as one of the genre’s greatest achievements and is the absolute pride of Bethesda’s developing history. But, sneakily, Bethesda has opted to update the price of the game in preparation for the 10th-anniversary edition of the game without telling a soul.

In an underhanded bid to milk the land of Skyrim for more money, Bethesda has raised the price of Skyrim in the UK.

The company has quietly raised the Skyrim Special Edition’s price from £29.99 up to £34.99 on Steam, as initially discovered by TheGamer. It’s a pretty substantial raise, especially for a game that has been out for close to a decade. In the build-up to the new version of the game, it’s clear that Bethesda isn’t keen on letting players start their journey in Tamriel for cheap.

This is likely to be due to the fact that the upcoming anniversary edition of the game offers a free upgrade from the Special Edition, but it doesn’t quite excuse the underhanded and sneaky price hike.

When Does Skyrim Anniversary Edition Come Out?

Despite this hike, we still have good reason to make our return to Skyrim, as the game’s anniversary edition releases on November 11. The latest release comes packing a huge slew of new shaders, every DLC pack the game released, and a special pack of over 500 pieces of content from the game’s creation club.

The Anniversary Edition is practically an updated version of the game, with all of the bells and whistles that Skyrim accumulated over the years. It’s certainly a sneaky move from Bethesda - but there’s a good chance that you own the game already. Statistically speaking, anyway.
