The Battlefield 2042 early access trial is now here, allowing players ten hours to try the game out before its November 19 launch date. However, some players are calling for a redesign of the game's new scoreboard already.

What Is Up With The New Battlefield 2042 Scoreboard?

Over on the Battlefield 2042 subreddit, a user called u/Duty-Money made a post entitled #BRINGBACKSCOREBOARD, where they lamented the disappearance of the old scoreboard design. In the post, the user states, "No matter how great the game is, it’s meaningless without a scoreboard or even something as simple as a KD Counter in the game. What’s the point in playing? How are you supposed to tell if you’re doing good in the game compared to others."

It may seem like a minor issues in the grand scheme of things - especially when the launch won't even feature voice chat - but much of the drive of multiplayer gaming is to compete against others and see how you perform.

The new scoreboard design makes that harder to communicate to players, which is baffling some. The top comment on the Reddit post even echoes this, stating, "I honestly don't understand the decision. Why? Why would you just remove the scoreboard, it's not like anyone ever complained about it. Not one person wanted it removed."

DICE or EA have yet to respond to these complaints, but the outrage isn't just contained to that one thread, as it's been a popular discussion point on the subreddit since early access began.

What Does The New Scoreboard Look Like?

Well, according to the early access players, terrible. But if you want a more objective description, we've got you covered. It looks largely unchanged from the alpha and beta versions, which can be seen above.

The left side of the scoreboard displays the game's top squads as well the match score of both teams. It doesn't showcase how you're doing relative to your team members or the enemies, meaning there is no overall match rankings on show. This means there's also no K/D ration, which is often considered a standard statistic to show in any competitive multiplayer game.

A Reddit user in the thread mentioned previously, also pointed out how the Battlefield 4 scoreboard design is much better than this iteration. Giving an example of how it allows you to see who was dead or alive, which is useful information to players.

With only a week to go until launch, it will remain to be seen if DICE and EA respond to the calls to redesign the scoreboard. Battlefield 2042 is set to release on November 19, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and select PC storefronts. New generation consoles will allow for up to 128 players in multiplayer, while the old generation can only handle 64.
