Battlefield 6 Leaker 'Confirms Battle Royale Game Mode'
The four current infinity stones of Thanos' battle royale gauntlet are about to be made into the full set with another contender in the form of a near-future combatant title featuring up to 128 players.
Whilst Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite, and PlayerUnkonwn's Battlegrounds (PUBG) are all fighting for the crown in their own rendition of Game of Thrones, Battlefield has been biding its time in a distant land, waiting to pounce and rule the genre, just with a lack of sex and dragons that the show was infamous for.
According to leaks, the working title Battlefield 6 (VI) will include a battle royale that plays host to 128 players. Previous leaks confirmed game modes of this size were in the works, although a 64 vs 64 Team Deathmatch was favoured. Now, an alias named "bf6leaker" has taken to Reddit to say "Battle Royale is confirmed."
The "inside leak" also suggests that all previous iterations of Battlefield will be combined onto one core hub.
The hub (still unnamed) will allow players to use the servers of 1942, Battlefield 3, and more. The leaker also suggests that players will be given their chance to find out which is the superior game by allowing game modes to play with the settings and guns from one title on one team, versus another with a different Battlefield era.
The leaker added "You will be able to boot up servers playing exclusively 1942, or even have the option to play with settings, so one team has access to 1942 weapons/vehicles and the other team has access to BF3 weapons/vehicles. An example given was teams fighting Panzers vs M1 Abrams."
With many daggers flying for the iron throne of the genre, will a Battlefield battle royale see the franchise snoop in from the shadows and wear the crown? Or will the fans favourite Warzone slip it a quick painful death before returning to the wall?
