Battlefield 2042 Trailer Confirms Tom Brady Is Still Football's Future GOAT
There’s a new CGI Battlefield 2042 trailer, that features a few tongue 'n' cheek references to the game’s future - like Tom Brady being declared 2042's GOAT - plus plenty of 'only in Battlefield' moments.
What Is The Tom Brady Reference In The Battlefield Trailer?
The latest Battlefield 2042 trailer is titled "What A Time To Be Alive" and features plenty of chaotic scenes, that we imagine players will be excited to replicate when the game is released on November 19. As the title takes place in near-future Earth, we also get some glimpses into what the world will look like in 21 years, and it appears Tom Brady will still be going strong.
Tom Brady is a legendary American football star, commonly known as the best quarterback in the history of the sport and for his longevity at the top, still putting in MVP performances well into his 40s. In the trailer, there's one moment of reprieve as a soldier looks on at a large advertising board with a weathered and grey-bearded Brady being declared 2042's MVP. The star would be 65 during this entry, but it’s a nice little joke about his unprecedented time at the top of the sport.
What Else Is In The Battlefield Trailer?
At one point, we see a large stadium titled "YouTube Gaming Arena", which is a clear reference to the rise of esports over the last decade and how potentially big it could become in the future to warrant its own dedicated stadium.
There is also the plethora of 'Battlefield moments.' Typically, this phrase, or 'only in Battlefield' is a tagline by EA for advertising the unique stunts you can perform in the series. The latest Battlefield 2042 trailer recreated plenty of them. One of the first is a jeep with C4 strapped to the front, going up a ramp and crashing into a helicopter to blow it up.
We later see a scene of a helicopter flying dangerously low, as it rams into a soldier on the ground. After this, the Battlefield 2042 trailer shows a heavily advertised map for the upcoming game, with a rocket set to take off in the middle. One soldier, who spawns in, chucks a grenade into the oncoming path of a jet, causing it to impact the rocket and explode, which sends a boat and soldiers careening through the air. Phew, how exhausting.
These are all things that can be performed in-game too, making this a CGI Battlefield 2042 trailer that is surprisingly accurate to the actually experience. Battlefield 2042 is set to release very soon, on November 19 for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and select PC storefronts. The new-gen versions will support up to 128 players in a server, while the last-gen versions will be kept at 64 like previous entries.
