On Friday, the Atlanta Reign added some serious depth to their roster after promoting flex support, Steven "Kodak" Rosenberger, from the team’s academy roster and signing former Team Envy main support, Anthony "Fire" King.

Fire enjoyed more than a year with Dallas Fuel’s academy team before joining the Reign. Team Envy always stood within the front runners of Overwatch Contenders: North America. His tenure with the team culminated in back-to-back Contenders titles in 2019.

Kodak touts a very similar story with the Atlanta Reign’s academy team, ATL Academy. After playing on the main roster for the Stage 1 Playoffs in 2019, Kodak stepped down to play alongside ATL Academy. There he and the team took home the Overwatch Contenders Season 2 title and had a very strong showing an Overwatch Contenders: The Gauntlet.

With the incoming Hero Pool change set to begin this March, the added depth to their support roster will become invaluable to the Reign. Their veteran presence, experience in multiple metagames, and sheer ability to relieve members of the starting roster will keep the Reign on track to maintaining their status as a top team.

The Atlanta Reign finished 6th overall in the regular season which netted them a direct seed into the 2019 playoffs. There, they took a surprising upset win in the quarterfinals against the eventual champions, the San Francisco Shock, before facing a strong New York Excelsior and the Hangzhou Spark, whom they were unable to defeat. Mirroring their regular season placing, the Reign exited the 2019 playoff run at 5-6th place.

Sadly, Reign fans will have to wait until February 29th to see their beloved team debut in Houston, Texas against the Toronto Defiant.
