Assassin's Creed Valhalla Update Makes You Completely Redownload
Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been a treat as a new-gen launch title. As an extension of Assassin's Creed's step away from - well, assassinating - it's a cracking action title that puts you in the boots of invading Viking forces.
The game has been going heavy on its post-launch content, with the Wrath of the Druids vastly expanding on the game's narrative and a surprise DLC coming very soon.
It's clear that even a year on, Valhalla isn't done just yet. But, this new content comes with a price - and it's a bit odd.
Why Does Assassin's Creed Valhalla Make You Redownload The Game?
The new Update 1.4.1 for Assassin's Creed Valhalla is bizarrely going to require players to completely uninstall their games and reinstall for it to work. The update is set to be pretty substantial by offering a lot of new quality of life features and fixes. It's still strange that the update requires such a big reset.
This means that the download is roughly 77GB in total - excluding the DLC you may own. This is supposedly due to a "data restructuring", that means the reinstall saves the update from costing you an extra 34GB of total file size. It might be frustrating, but it sounds like it could be for the greater good of your hard drive.
What's Coming In The Strange Valhalla Update
According to Ubisoft, update 1.4.1 for Assassin's Creed Valhalla should be worth the hassle. The update is set to bring in some changes that should simply make the gameplay smoother, introducing "faster loading screens, improved world data streaming, and overall runtime performance".
This is great news for players, and though the reinstall is going to be frustrating for players wanting to just jump in and go, it's for the best if the alternative was another 34GB on hard drives everywhere. If you haven't given Valhalla a go yet - maybe now is a good opportunity.
