It sounds like Eivor could be heading to warmer climes, as the third Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC is rumoured to take the story to North Africa for a very different Viking adventure. The latest entry in Ubisoft's long-running series charted a new era of history and picked up with the Viking invasion of Britain in the year AD 873. While the franchise has been celebrating a new lease of life since the release of Assassin's Creed Origins in 2018, Valhalla sold more copies in its first week than any other game in the franchise.

While things wrapped up neatly as Eivor put down their axe, the game's cliffhanger ending teased what's next in the war between the Assasins and Templars. As we wait for the inevitable Valhalla sequel, Ubisoft isn't quite done with this world yet. Instead of going with the usual mantra of ditching the game and quickly moving onto the next chapter, rumours of no new Assassin's Creed until at least 2022 are backed up by an ongoing roadmap of DLCs. Following in the footsteps of "Wrath of the Druids" and the upcoming "Siege of Paris", is a third just around the corner?

What is the rumoured third Assassin's Creed DLC?

Now, prominent AC leaker J0nathan has posted a video on YouTube and dropped a tonne of potential spoilers about the second and (mythical) third DLCs. In the past, J0nathan has been proved right when they leaked the maps of the first two DLCs, meaning we probably don't have to take the latest scoop with quite as large a grain of salt. Diving into the game's code, J0nathan discovered a mystery project called Meteor, which is apparently being developed by Ubisoft Sofia. Three game files refer to DLC_EXP1_Ireland, DLC_EXP2_Francia, and DLC_EXP3_Meteor.

Moving into speculatory territory, J0nathan guesses "Meteor" will relate to Norse mythology and the locale of Muspelheim, aka North Africa. There's another file that mentions "LocationWorldEntry_ACK_DLC_Muspelheim,” however, J0nathan admits it could relate to an abandoned storyline. Excitingly, there's a theory that each of the Norse realms in Valhalla related to a real-world location, suggesting there might be even more DLCs on the way. Posting on Reddit, Valhalla Narrative Director Darby McDevitt confirmed Muspelheim relates to “all of Northern Africa".

The idea that a trip to North Africa coming as part of a second Season Pass is a tempting one. Games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Call of Duty: Warzone has delivered multiple seasons to keep players invested. Much like how Activision has bridged the gap between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War, Ubisoft could leave a breadcrumb trail that leads into the next Assassin's Creed

Will there be a third Assassin's Creed DLC?

Considering "Wrath of the Druids" is only just out, there are only a few details about "Siege of Paris". According to J0nathan, the synopsis for "Siege of Paris" reads, "To the South, the kingdom of Francia has unified under a single king for the first time in a hundred years. Charles the Fat, the great-grandson of Charlemagne, now wages a slow war against the Norse in Francia. England could be next. Ravensthorpe must make new allies in Francia to avoid the threat of war. A visitor will arrive at Ravensthorpe's dock to launch the adventure."

J0nathan says the DLC will take place in 885 - a few years after the main story. Sadly, the Hidden Ones aren't expected to pop by for a visit. Both of the first DLCs are set to be released before November 9, which would mark exactly a year since Valhalla was unleashed onto the world. Of course, "Wrath of the Druids" was delayed from its original release, so it's possible "Siege of Paris" could follow suit. Ubisoft hasn't commented on any of the above, and with the official roadmap only outlining two DLCs, we're left hoping a third is on the way.
