As the new update starts to level out across Apex Legends, many players are fighting to give the new content the game has to offer a good go. One of these new elements that have a lot of players excited is Valkyrie, daughter of Titanfall 2’s Viper and rocket-powered trailblazer. Her all-new vertical playstyle is completely new to the game and something that players are desperate to try. But, in order to get there at all, they need to unlock the character. One way to do so is with Legend Tokens, one of Apex Legends’ currencies. But what are Legend Tokens? And how do you earn them?

What Are Legend Tokens?

Legend Tokens are one of the four currencies in Apex Legends. It joins Crafting Materials, Apex Coins and Heirloom Shards, but there’s one major difference - Legend Tokens are the only currency that’s completely free. They’re defined by the white and red “L” symbol, and you can check up on your total in the top right of the main lobby by hovering over your Apex Coins and crafting materials total.

There are only a few things you can spend Legend Tokens on, but they’ll save you a lot of money if you’re skilled enough to gather them quickly. They’re primarily used for unlocking legends (hence the name), with every hero being available for 12,000 legend tokens. It might seem like a big number, but it’ll save you the 750 Apex Coin fee.

You can also use Legend Tokens to reroll the colours of legendary skins you’ve already bought on the game store. Once you’ve got the skin, you can shell out an extra 6,500 or 10,500 to shift about the cosmetic to suit you better.

Plus, as an extra recent addition, you’ll be able to use your Legend Tokens to reroll your daily challenges. If you need to use a legend you don’t have or a weapon you hate to earn your battle pass progress, you can reroll the challenge for 200 to randomly change it. The price will go up each time, though, so use your rerolls sparingly.

How Do I Earn Legend Tokens?

It’s actually very easy to get your hands on Legend Tokens. All you need to do in order to earn your Tokens is keep playing the game.

From level 4, you’ll earn 600 Legend Tokens every time you level up and will keep going even after you’ve reached the game’s level cap. So, the aim of the game if you’re looking to farm for Tokens is to keep getting kills and place as high as you possibly can, so you’ll rank up a little quicker. Plus, you can get XP bonuses in the battle pass, so each time you grab one, you’ll be getting closer and closer to earning enough Tokens to purchase the legend you’ve been thinking of grabbing.

Legend Tokens are a great incentive to keep you playing, and actually might end up saving you some real money in the long run. So get farming, and who knows, maybe the new hero could be yours before you know it.
