Will Apex Legends Come To Nintendo Switch?
Apex Legends is one of the most successful and popular Battle Royale games out there but is currently only available to play on PC or console (and some mobile devices). With the advent of Nintendo Switch, which has sold over 50 million units worldwide to date, can Apex Legends join the popular handheld console before its too late?
Fortnite is already enjoying success on the platform, with a reported “half of all Switch owners” having the game downloaded, and there may be room for another BR to swoop in.
There is clearly a call from the Apex community for the game to be ported to Nintendo Switch, so when might this be happening?
Apex Legends has been available to play since February 2019, so almost two years after its initial release, how far away is a port to Switch?
Respawn Entertainment developers have addressed this situation before, with Lead Producer Drew McCoy saying in an interview with Eurogamer that they were “hearing all the Switch players who say they want the game,” but “can’t make any promises” and it’s also “nothing [they] can currently talk about”, however they would love to bring Apex Legends to the Nintendo Switch at some point.
Unfortunately, your progress won’t be able to be shared on to the Switch, as McCoy states; “due to the way the systems were set up early on.”
As cross-play was recently introduced, meaning players can play with friends on PC and console and fight with opponents on those platforms, a port to Switch may be on the cards sooner rather than later.
Look out for news regarding an Apex Legends release on Nintendo Switch very soon.
