Every game title has that iconic battleground where all the chaos happens. Call of Duty: Warzone has Atlas Superstore, Fortnite has the bereaved Titled Towers, and as for Apex Legends, the early days of the games lifetime was dominated by players dropping into Skulltown and initiating a full-blown bloodbath.

Upon each game, the village replicating a broken rib cage would be littered with deathboxes in every nook and cranny, with only the strongest of victors coming out victorious. Not a game would pass without the Champion Squad of Wraith, Pathfinder, and Bloodhound dropping in and igniting utter carnage.

The staple mark of Kings Canyon was removed in Season 5 though, whilst Capitol City came to fruition on Worlds Edge. The dusty wasteland became nothing but a cherished memory.

In the midst of reminiscing about previous crusades, many Apex Legends fans think they have found the perfect way of bringing back the form skirmish centre.

Respawn Entertainment recently unveiled a brand-new permanent game mode that will be landing in Season 9: Legacy, named Arena. The three versus three team deathmatch will allow players to try out some new legends and weapon choices whilst offering a fun and chaotic playstyle on small maps.

Chaos, small maps, Skulltown, you see where this is going.

So far, three maps have been revealed, boasting popular areas that have been a part of each battle royale map we've seen.

Artillery from Kings Canyon, Thermal Station from World’s Edge, and Golden Gardens from Olympus are all set to be the stage for Arena, although fans think now would be the perfect time to bring back Skulltown too.

The only criticism of the concept so far has been that with just two teams, will this be enough action to truly live up to the reputation of Skulltown and relive its former glory?

I guess, there's only one way to find out, Respawn...
