Apex Legends Players Urge Respawn To Make Kings Canyon Changes
Apex Legends' rotational map method - having one of their three maps featured as the solo ranked battleground per half-season - is a system that is often praised, allowing the game to stay fresh and current, avoiding tedious repetitions and burnout.
However, when there are three arenas on offer, one is always going to shine above the rest, and come the time to drop in on the least desired map, players aren't shy of voicing their displeasure.
For most, the nostalgic, yet dreary, Kings Canyon is a map filled with memory and pleasure, having been in the game since its conception - albeit with a range of adjustments over the years (RIP Skulltown). With long-standing POIs and a familiar setting to manipulate through, Kings Canyon is a favourite of the casuals.
But for ranked, well, it sucks, apparently.
The map that boasts very few high-tier loots places in the centre of the landscape often pushes players to land in a moshpit and skirmish from the second they leave the dropship, or land on the Outlands' outskirts before rotating in and creating a third, fourth, fifth, and sixth party fiasco.
Having been in rotation for under a month as the sole ranked map, players are now calling on Respawn to make adjustments to the map, suggesting the POIs need to be extended in the centre, offering more scope to find high-tier loot and not invite an unpredictable brawl from the get-go.
Apex Legends recently attracted a wealth of brand-new talent to the title, moving over from the likes of a woeful Warzone and faded Fortnite, but the return to a crippled Kings Canyon has already taken its toll on some more long-standing professional players.
TSMFTX's Apex pro, Eric "Snip3down" Wrona admitted that the current Kings Canyon layout is driving him away from the "extremely unenjoyable" game.
Snip3down's teammate Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen also shared his frustrations about the current ranked system, adding that players should be able to be demoted ranks, a method that could see Kings Canyon's finer details flourish, rather than become a slaughterhouse.
One fan also commented saying that the nature of ranked allows players to throw caution to the wind in favour of kills, rather than placement, which takes away from Kings Canyon's tactical layout.
For those not enjoying Kings Canyon, the map will remain as the sole ranked battleground until Apex Legends Season 11, where Ash will land on Olympus with a vengeance.
