It was all going so well. With Apex Legends Season 7 finally live, players are getting to grips with the likes of Horizon and the new Olympus Map. While Olympus was first teased back in Season 5 and a mythical Legend from above called Valkyrie being rumoured for months, the leaks and snippets have kept hype for Season 7 at fever pitch. Sadly, as we take to the skies with Apex Legends: Ascension, fans are already up in arms that the grind is too much.

As with every season, there's a brand new Battle Pass to make your way through. Only recently, Fortnite players complained about the grind of its Marvel-themed Chapter 2 Season 4, and unfortunately, it seems like Respawn is the latest developer to find itself in the firing line.

Apex Legends *erm* legend Shrugtal is known as a prominent dataminer when it comes to the beloved title, however, even they're having problems with Season 7. Posting on Twitter, they complained that they've been playing for a lengthy sitting and still failed to make it up a single Battle Pass level. Given that the Battle Pass starts out easy and gets progressively harder, this isn't a good sign for those higher tiers.

Shrugtal's grind gripes were echoed on the Apex Legends subreddit where there were some shocking stats. The new format means you'll have to win five matches to earn five stars, which is still only half a Battle Pass level. Elsewhere, it will take four times as much XP to level up a Battle Pass level when compared to Season 6.

The OG poster wrote: "Overall this feels quite unrewarding. I don't think I'll have the time to max the BP this season and now I don't even really want to try. I honestly regret this purchase which is the first time that's happened for me and the BP. I really should have checked to see what the progression was like before buying the BP. If I knew, there's no chance I would have spent my coins on this".

With the complaints coming thick and fast, we'll have to wait and see whether Respawn is going to do anything to address this new Apex Legends Season 7 Battle Pass format or we'll have to suck it up and be in this one for the long haul.
