Apex Legends Monitor Glitch Lets Players See Through Walls
Apex Legends has been dedicated to ensuring their games fair and simple. Upon the introduction of emotes to the game, developer Respawn Entertainment had the foresight to implement an “anti-peek” system of their own design to make sure that players weren’t able to peek around corners they weren’t supposed to. But now, a player has discovered a potentially game-breaking and unfair glitch that’s going to cause a lot of problems.
What Is Apex Legends’ Wall Glitch?
One player in the Apex Legends subreddit has discovered a wall glitch that will cause a lot of trouble in live games when using their ultra-wide monitor.
User Ricashea has shown that when hiding behind a small barrier in the training area, they can see enemy players crystal clear through it, displaying a bug similar to if the barrier had lost textures. Ricashea is able to identify the enemy Wraith’s position and duck to and from cover, shooting them with a Peacekeeper with incredible accuracy.
It’s an incredibly unfair advantage for a player to have, especially as a result of owning a generally expensive monitor. And fans are feeling pretty pessimistic about it.
Fans React To Apex Legends’ Wall Glitch
The ultrawide monitor wall glitch has rubbed a lot of fans the wrong one, and one commenter has suggested that unfortunately, it could go without a patch. “The issue stems from the source engine as a whole (increase the FOV on other source games like CS:GO in the console and enjoy), I doubt a fix is ever coming”, says shaonline.
Even the poster themselves, Ricashea, comes forward to brand it pay-to-win. “Pay to win lmao, but I just hope the devs can patch this pretty quickly”, they say in the comments.
Fingers crossed this bug can find a patch despite its roots in the engine of the game. Commenters are right - it’s a pay-to-win bug, and it could bring some serious imbalance to the game.
