Apex Legends might have a lot of things on its plate - character abilities, ultimate abilities, weapons - but it manages to keep everything pretty well balanced. It’s crucial in battle royale games that no one weapon is inherently better than another, otherwise, it will dominate the meta of the game and strip it of all of its fun, and quickly too.

Shotguns tend to trade-off their range for big damage, and stay pretty fair for the most part. But one modder is threatening to change that with a loadout that’s amping up shotgun effectiveness.

Apex Legends Modder Dual-Wields Eva-8 Shotguns

Modder MokeySniper has made many an Apex fan and Call of Duty veteran’s skin crawl by dual-wielding the Eva-8 in an in-game test. The test shows the user dancing and jumping around a collection of test dummies and laying them to waste with the pair of weapons.

They duck beneath the screen to reload, but most crucially, they still deal the same amount of damage as before. One shot especially, combining the power of both weapons, does a whopping 121 damage. Blimey.

It’s not a part of the game yet, but it’s still making some fans rather nervous.

Apex Legends Fans React To Dual-Wielded Shotguns

Fans have been getting some serious flashbacks of the savage beatings they received back in the days of the Modern Warfare games, as similar loadouts using the Model 1887 akimbo were used to dish up some serious lashings.

It also looks like for many, akimbo weapons could be a total dealbreaker.

While the suggestion of akimbo weapons worry some, it’s emboldened others to spur Respawn to actually implement them in the game.

Whether or not Respawn sees this footage and starts to consider putting them in the game remains to be seen - but they’ll need to be careful, as it could be… dangerous.
