Apex Legends Crypto Trick Lets Players Use Survey Beacons Faster
There's some technical trickery going on with a new Crypto trick in Apex Legends, giving the encryption expert a handy boost that could give players and edge over their matches. This time, a nifty hack means Survey Beacons can be used from further away, meaning you can scope out enemies without getting up close and personal with the barrel of their gun.
Survey Beacons have become an invaluable part of Apex Legends as they reveal where the next rotation is, and allow you to get the drop on the opposition as the ring closes in. Normally, your Recon class is forced out into the open to activate them, which can leave you exposed and shot down before you even know what's hit you. Well, that's if you don't play as Crypto.

Posting on Reddit, smallpeepee_69 explained how you can use Crypto's drone to activate the Survey Beacon from a safe distance. When hiding in a corner, simply throw out Crypto's drone and scan for a Survey Beacon. When your flying friend is alongside the Survey Beacon, it can be turned on. Better yet, the drone's activation is instant instead of the usual three to four seconds it would take to use Crypto in the field.
In battle terms, it means you can stick to the relative safety of the ring's edge and still keep on top of rotations without giving away your position. There are obvious problems though. As well as needing to have a Survey Beacon in range of a drone, there's a chance the opposition could shoot down your drone and scupper the whole plan. Still, this handy Crypto trick is one you can try out next time you decide to play as him in Apex Legends.

On the whole, the usually underrated Crypto has climbed the rankings in Season 6. As well as being able to use Survey Beacons, his drone's health has been upgraded from 30 to 60. Yes, the hitbox is larger - making it a bigger target - but if you know how to use him, Crypto can be an invaluable member. Sorry Pathfinder, you may be cute, but it looks like you've been outranked in the Recon class. Well, until devs ultimately decide to nerf Crypto's Survey Beacon ability.
