Apex Legends Bans Thousands Of Cheaters Just Before Season 10
The company behind Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment, has announced that they have banned over 2,000 accounts for apparently making use of two different cheats in the game.
Why Have Players Been Getting Banned From Apex Legends?
It appears that some players have felt the sweet justice of the ban hammer after exploiting two different cheats in the game. Well, you know what they say: Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
In a Tweet from Conor Ford, who does 'Apex Security' at the company, he said: "Banned 2,086 players early this morning for abuse of an RP loss forgiveness exploit (dashboarding) and abuse of a matchmaking exploit allowing high-rank players into Bronze lobby to farm. Breakdown is as follows: PC-44 PS4- 1,965 Switch- 15 Xbox- 62".
He later added: "These are matchmaking bans that have varied lengths depending on extent of abuse. Sucks to miss the opening of a new season, come back next time around and enjoy the game how its meant to be played."
Have People Been Banned From Apex Legends By Accident?
This comes just days after EA was forced to apologise to players after they inadvertently banned an unknown number of innocent Apex Legends accounts, as they attempted to crackdown on the amount of offensive battle royale club names.
And, in June, it was reported that there were MORE Apex players being banned 'for no reason at all'. At the time, the developers couldn't give any kind of explanation as to why players were being banned, although they did offer some advice. EA Help agents Sue and Shay took to Twitter to inform players that "A lot of players have received the ban message today and our Apex team is currently investigating this," before advising "Please try closing the game and logging back in to see if you still have trouble."
