2020 has been a huge year for Among Us as InnerSloth's social deduction game has soared to the top of the Twitch charts some two years after it was first released. The three-person team presumably had no idea their adorable little title would take off in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Following such a massive boom to its player base, developers are back and pushing Among Us into a new era.

For those who've been hiding under a rock, Among Us sends you out into the depths of space and tasks you will playing as either Crewmates or Imposters. It's the goal of Crewmates to complete tasks maintaining the ship and survive while Imposters try to kill them off. There are currently only three maps, but for the first time in over a year, a new one is being added.

Among Us Airship Map: What does it look like?

News of another map is nothing new after InnerSlother teased a first look last month. With Among Us having its own showcase at December 10's Game Awards, devs showed Airship off in all its glory and explained some of its unique mechanics. Alongside the OG map (The Skeld), Polus, and Mira HQ were added in late 2019. Airship is the long-awaited fourth map, but as the reveal trailer showed, it will be very different.

Among the new Among Us tasks, there are the likes of polishing a giant gemstone and taking out a bag of rubbish. Mobility is also getting an overhaul, meaning you'll be able to travel around the Airship via ladders and new hovering platforms. Crewmates can also pick which room they want to spawn in when a murder meeting is over. Finally, there's a new line of cosmetics and kill animations that fit with Airship's theme.

Speaking of themes, Airship will be the first map to have an actual theme. The latest addition is modelled on Henry Stickmin, which are a series of animated shorts created by InnerSloth's Marcus Bromande.

Among Us Airship Map: When's it coming?

If you can't wait to take off in Airship, the good news is it's coming in "early 2021". InnerSloth hasn't given an exact release window, but we'd surprised if it wasn't landing before the end of February 2021. InnerSloth has doubled down on its efforts to revamp Among Us after the team confirmed it was scrapping plans for Among Us 2 to focus on the OG game.

The team has previously said several of its ideas for Among Us 2 will be reworked into the first game, so it will be interesting to know whether Airship was going to be part of the sequel. All in all, things are looking increasingly impressive for Among Us after it scooped Game of the Year at the Game Awards. Hopefully, Airship will be the start of a new roadmap of levels. Either way, get ready to blast off with Airship in 2021.
