If Black Ops Cold War was your partner on a first date, they'd have taken your jacket, pulled your chair out, had all the chat in the world and even paid the bill. Everything about this game that we've learnt from its first impressions is making us want to take it home.

The banter is flowing and on the other side of the table, Black Ops Cold War stirs, staring into your eyes. A beautiful creation with few notable flaws. An impeccable reveal has us head over heels already.

The only thing that's lead us to believe that this is too good to be true is how we progress. A rumour has surfaced that this wonder that sits across from you has a progression system that is like nothing you have ever seen, and it has you worried about the future.

We are, of course, talking about the prestige system of Black Ops Cold War. Recently, we reported that the progression and levelling up system is to not feature the usual Prestige dynamic which has become a fan favourite over the years.

Activision has now revealed that Black Ops Cold War will have a "brand new" levelling up system which ties in with both multiplayer and Warzone.

In a blog post, the developers stated: “At launch, Black Ops Cold War is set to include a brand-new levelling journey that will later connect to Warzone, allowing players to unlock new functional content to be used in both titles".

What this will be is yet to be confirmed, however, it does confirm that it is unlikely that we will be seeing prestige return, and most likely having some form of seasonal reward system that will span over multiple titles.
