Activision has been dealt an ultimatum, with their biggest content creators stepping away from the game due to the overwhelming hackers and cheaters plaguing Verdansk on the daily.

The likes of Nick "Nickmercs" Kolscheff leaving the competitive Warzone scene and Vikram "Vikkstar123" Singh Barn quitting the game altogether, Activision has been left with the decision to properly install an anti-cheat software or watch their biggest names tailor off to other battle royale titles like Fortnite.

However, as of February 2, Activision has revealed that there is an anti-cheat software programme in place, but the developers are having to work doubly hard for it to become effective.

It comes off the back of reports that the publisher took down one of the biggest collection of hackers to record, with their overriding of cheat software distributors such as EngineOwning. In the coup that saw 60,000 hackers and cheaters banned and unable to access their cheats from EngineOwning, Activision has now outlined the ways in which the software will use to keep Verdansk a cheater-free Warzone.

Taking to a blog post, the developers stated: "We are committed to delivering a fair and fun experience for all players".

"We are also continuing our efforts to identify and address cheat providers at the source, who distribute unauthorized third party software for modding or hacking".

Their initiative has outlined a number of ways that their software will look to ban cheaters.

  • Weekly backend security updates
  • Improved in-game reporting mechanisms
  • Added 2-factor authentication, which has invalidated over 180,000 suspect accounts
  • Eliminated numerous unauthorized third-party software providers
  • Increased dedicated teams and resources across software development, engineering, data science, legal and monitoring
  • In addition, we’re increasing our efforts and capabilities in these key areas.
  • Enhancements to our internal anti-cheat software
  • Additional detection technology
  • Adding new resources dedicated to monitoring and enforcement
  • Regular communication updates on progress; more two-way dialogue
  • Zero tolerance for cheat providers
  • Consistent and timely bans

With such a stance against the hackers and cheaters, hopefully, we will soon see balance restored in Verdansk and everyone can get back to killing each other fairly.
