The development of Call of Duty 2021 has been one filled with rumours, scepticism, and fear, as the community has been left with no definitive answer as to whether we will see another consecutive annual release.

But just as the skies are blue, and the grass is green, we're getting another Call of Duty title this year.

Activision has now confirmed that Sledgehammer Games will be taking the reins as the sole developer behind the title that is suspected to be called Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard.

Sledgehammer themselves took to Twitter, first to meme with the Undertaker arising from his grave, but second to lay any doubts to rest by saying "We’re so excited to be leading the charge on Call of Duty this year and can’t wait to share more."

What Can We Expect From Sledgehammer Games?

Whilst the Undertaker meme is rather self-explanatory of the developers rising from the ashes, the news from what they are expecting to whip up is still rather stone cold.

Previous leaks and rumours have all fingers pointed at a post-WW2 setting that follows an alternate timeline to the real-life events. With "more news to come" soon according to the developers, it can't be too much longer before they Batista bomb the details and we can finally find out what the Rock is cooking.

Will we still get Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered in 2021?

Previous rumours suggested that Sledgehammer Games have been bumped once more in favour of releasing the long-awaited Modern Warfare 2 Remastered multiplayer. These reports surfaced as a result of what seemed to be time pressure on our recently announced devs, with time ticking before it hits the shelves in November.

With Sledgehammer back in full control, it's likely that the rumoured MW2 multiplayer will be saved for another rainy day when Activision are in need of a multitude of sales.

Sledgehammer is back, building on top of their average WWII title and hopefully learning from some minor mistakes and building on top of what was a solid core.
