A Real-Life Arkham Asylum Is Opening Its Doors And Asking For Inmates
Get the bat-signal ready on top of Big Ben because it looks like London is set to get the Gotham treatment, with an Arkham Asylum theatre experience soon coming to England's capital city.
Warner Bros. and DC Comics have teamed up with Department Studios and Myriad Entertainment to create a wholly immersive experience for Batman fans. Well, as long as you feel brave enough to take on the dimly-lit cells and terrifying characters of Gotham's corrupt psychiatric hospital.
What Is The Arkham Asylum Experience?
According to the website, the immersive Arkham Asylum experience is "set in a vast, multi-sensory recreation of the notorious psychiatric hospital, Arkham Asylum is an epic alternate reality, fusing futuristic technology and interactive theatrics. A wholly original story, audiences come face to face with the heroic and villainous inhabitants of Gotham City to create an unforgettable experience."
Participants who are brave enough to take on the challenge will be taking on the role of Gotham citizens, and will be encountering various iconic Arkham Asylum residents, including Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Catwoman and, more. However, the site does say that participants will have to be over 18 years of age, so it's safe to say it will be scary. If this sounds a bit too scary you could just stay home and give your Xbox or PlayStation the immersive Batman experience with new console skins.
The project is being directed by Simon Evans, who found huge success during the Coronavirus lockdown with the Zoom-based BBC TV show Staged, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen. After sharing the news on Twitter, Evans claimed that Arkham Asylum has been seven years in the making.
Where Can I Buy Tickets For Arkham Asylum?
Tickets for Arkham Asylum will go on sale via the website on October 29, 2021. There's no specific dates for the event just yet, but Arkham Asylum will be taking place in the Autumn of 2022. At the moment, the immersive is only taking place in London, but that doesn't mean that other potential worldwide locations couldn't be considered in future.
Nothing has been confirmed as to whether the caped crusader himself will be making an appearance - yet. However, could Batman be heading for a holiday in Fortnite instead?
In the meantime, Batman fans are looking forward to the upcoming Gotham Knights. You can find out everything we know about the game here.
