A Permanent Nintendo Switch Price Cut Is On Its Way To The UK
The Nintendo Switch is a magnificent console that perfectly reflects the company’s attitude to game development and ethos - but pricing remains a big issue for a lot of fans wanting to get involved in the fun.
Nintendo games, and especially those tied to their bigger IPs, are inherently timeless. It’s this fact tied with the very specific production of Switch cartridges that makes the games so expensive, and the reason you’ll still see Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild still hovering around the £50 mark, and with needing to buy a console to even reach a position of being ready to buy them - it makes for an expensive experience.
Luckily though, the run-up to the launch of the Nintendo Switch OLED model may have done us a big favour, as a permanent Switch price drop is rolling out across the world.
Permanent Switch Price Drop Arrives In UK
We’ve now seen a wave of price drops for the Nintendo Switch stretch across Europe, and now finally reaching our shores in the UK. It began in Spain, as Gamereactor Spain confirmed that the price drop would occur today, supporting claims previously made by NintendAlerts on Twitter.
The price drop is beginning to list on online stores across the world now, displaying a tasty markdown for the Switch’s base model, both the version with grey JoyCons and blue & red JoyCons.
Nintendo hasn’t rolled out a specific RRP for the Switch, but the chances are that the arrival of the Switch’s upcoming OLED model has pushed the company to lower their distribution price to stimulate sales.
An independent retailer has told VGC that they expect the new price to rollout across the UK today, so we’ll be keeping an eye on stock across the country to watch that price dip.
What Is The New Price Of The Nintendo Switch?
Over here in the UK, the Nintendo Switch will now be sold for £259.99, a £20 knock from its original £279.99. The news has come from the official Nintendo website, which has just changed the console’s price.
The price of the console in Europe has taken a big drop too, falling to €270 from €330.
It’s a considerable dip, and it’ll make getting into the Switch a whole lot easier for new players. If you haven’t got an original Switch yet - there’s never been a better time to pounce.
