A Mortal Kombat Trilogy Remake Could Be Coming, But It Needs Your Help
We're currently in the midst of a remake/ remaster resurgence. And we can't quite decide if it's a good thing or not.
On one hand, it's a little stressful to see just classic games clogging the pipes of games charts, reminding us that nothing sells quite like nostalgia, and that innovation and excitement are a thing of the past for many AAA developers.
But, equally, we're suckers for that very same nostalgia, picking up every remake and remaster of the great games of yesteryear. It's utterly irresistible for some, and it's clear how the function of remakes work - because we ourselves are the ones funding them.
But, there's still a lot of classic games that fans want remakes for - and one fighting franchise could be getting a HD return-to-form if fans can rally up and help out.
Mortal Kombat HD Devs Want A MK Trilogy Remake
The team behind the scrapped Mortal Kombat HD, Eyeballistic, have come forward with a petition that would help them to create a full HD remake of the first three Mortal Kombat games. The team had the support from series co-creator Ed Boon when they were working on the HD game, but Warner Bros weren't entirely confident in the project, allowing it to fall through - but now their ambitions are soaring even higher with the potential of a full trilogy.
The team are now a legitimate development team, and have the skills to make it work - but now they need signatures.
The team have made contracts for games on new-gen consoles, so there's every chance that these remakes would come to the same consoles, especially as the initial build for the game has been created in Unreal Engine 5. But, of course, Eyeballistic needs your help.
The MK Trilogy Remake Petition Needs 100,000 Signatures
In order for the team to take the concept to Warner Bros, and to prove that they can make the 100,000 sales that they wanted with the first game's remake, they're asking for 100,000 signatures to take to the company as proof that the concept can work. The first build of the game looks promising, and there's every chance that with your help, it could become a reality.
The Mortal Kombat titles are undisputed classics, and a real signpost for the video game industry. Who knows, your signature could be just what Eyeballistic needs to get the remakes made.
