During the 'Kill the Snitch' quest in The Outlast Trials, you'll need to power up generators in the basement of the police department to get the Snitch to the end goal.

If you're having trouble locating the generators, read on and we'll tell you the steps you'll need to take to progress the Snitch trial.

Underground parking area

Once you have rolled the Snitch out of his cell, the screen will turn dark and the power will be shut down, meaning you won't be able to move him along the tracks and through the security doors.

You'll need to venture into the police department basement and re-power them as a result.

To get to the basement, follow the direction the policewoman mannequin points to, further down the corridor, past the cell doors, and follow the 'Underground Parking' signs down to the lower floors.

Continue down the parking garage and hold the garage door open, once open let go and quickly crouch pressing the C key to get underneath the door.

Once inside you'll need to search the parking area for two separate fuel cans. These are pretty common, so check around the abandoned cars and near the lockers.

Even if you miss one accidentally, once you pass a fuel canister it will be marked on your screen with a tank logo.

How to power the generators

Once you have retrieved a fuel can, you must take it to a generator. There are two generators in the area, these will spawn in random locations each time you attempt the trial.

The first generator tends to be behind a door within the central car parking area, marked with a sign above the door that reads 'Danger Generator Room'.

The second can be trickier but will usually be within a room adjacent to the first one. If you're being chased and you can't remember where you have previously explored, generators will be marked with a diamond quest objective marker once you walk past one, making it slightly easier to retrace your steps.

Once you have put the fuel into a generator you will need to perform three tasks to get it working. It is worth finding a suitable hiding spot nearby before proceeding as once the generator turns on, the patrolling policeman will run towards it.

First, there is a switchboard on both sides of the generator. You will need to light all the switches until they all turn green. Make a note of which order combinations you have already tried as the board will spark out occasionally.

Once both switchboards on both sides of the generator are completely green, you'll need to approach the front of the generator and crank it. This involves stopping the dial once it gets within the green/gold zone highlighted.

Once this is done, the generator will come back on and you'll be ready to perform these steps again on the second one.

Return to the parking garage entryway and where you left the Snitch.

A patrolling policeman with a shock weapon and a poisonous enemy will be in the area. It is worth exploring, however, as the level has three collectable posters to get. These posters are also randomized every time you re-start the trial.
