Highlights:

  • Tekken 8 features 32 base characters, with 4 DLC characters in Season 1
  • New characters to the series, Reina, Azucena, and Victor join the fight
  • DLC characters for Season 1 include Eddy and Lidia

The Tekken 8 roster is the most stacked it has ever been, with fighters from across the game's history coming together with brand new fighters in ultimate competition.

The roster of 32 at launch is quite strong, but if your favourite is not in the game, rest assured that DLC fighters are on the way. Whether you are more interested in playing through the storyline or want to climb the online ranks, here are the characters you are going to do it with.

DLC Characters join the fight

With every season of Tekken 8, there are going to be several DLC characters added to the roster, with the game's first season adding four more after launch. These characters may be returning favourites or brand-new additions, with the first being Eddy Gordo, who made his initial debut in Tekken 3.

The second character coming this summer is Lidia Sobieska. Lidia first appeared in Tekken 7 where she was also a DLC character, making her one of the newest additions to the roster.

Eddy's reveal trailer gave us an in-depth look at the character in action, showing off his combos, heat moves, and his new Rage Art. Eddy was made available to Year 1 Pass holders on April 2, and then officially released on April 5, 2024.

During Evo Japan 2024, the Tekken 8 Season 1 trailer showed off many new features coming this year and gave us our first in-game look at the second DLC character, Lidia.

How many characters are in Tekken 8?

There are currently 33 characters in the game, with those recently added being Eddy Gordo.

The roster is mostly made up of returning characters from older entries, including one character that we have not seen in many years. However, there are three new characters in the series that we have detailed below.

New characters

New characters which are previously unseen in the franchise are Azucena, Victor, and Reina. The first to be announced was Azucena. Known as the Peruvian coffee queen, she brings an energetic (and highly caffeinated) style to the game, with lots of dodges and counterattacks.

Victor is referred to by many in the community as French John Wick. Voiced by famous French actor Vincent Cassel, Victor leads the UN troops against G-Corp. In true Tekken fashion, he is very over the top with a shiny suit, sci-fi weapons and the ability to teleport.

Finally, Reina is the latest addition to the roster. Nicknamed Purple Lightning, Reina is a student of the Mishima Technical School and fights with the Mishima style. Her story is revealed in the Tekken 8 ending, which we won't spoil here but will say that it is very interesting.
