Have you heard about Project V but are not sure what it's all about? Project V is a brand-new competitor in the saturated Battle Royale genre, but it has a few things going in its favour. So, if you need a recap, this guide will get you caught up with everything we know so far about Project V.

What is Project V?

Project V is a newly announced Battle Royale championed by five massive content creators that first made names for themselves in Fortnite. On April 28, 2023, Jack "CouRageJD" Dunlop, Nicholas "Nickmercs" Kolcheff, Ali "SypherPK" Hassan, Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, and Timothy "TimtheTatman" Betar revealed that they were creating their own Battle Royale.

While the stardom of the team behind Project V is sure to draw eyes and ears no matter what, these guys are serious about making Project V the best Battle Royale can be. To aid them on the development side of things, the group of CouRageJD, Nickmercs, SypherPK, Ninja, and TimtheTatman are partnering with SuperJoy, the Fortnite division of Sypher’s Oni Studios.

Will Project V be like Fortnite?

What makes Project V unique is that it's getting built inside the Fortnite Unreal Editor. Utilising Unreal Engine 5's tools available Fortnite Creative 2.0, the household names behind Project V will construct their own Battle Royale using everything they've learned from their decades of experience playing Battle Royales.

While Project V and Fortnite might look and feel similar, there will be stark differences. The team behind Project V doesn't want to outright copy Fortnite. Instead, they plan to implement custom weapons, an original, full-scale map, fluid movement, and other fresh mechanics to create a one-of-a-kind experience.

However, they can't do it without your help! The gang creating Project V promises that community feedback will take the utmost priority. Because ultimately, shouldn't the players have a say in helping to mould the games they play?

How to play Project V

Unfortunately, you won't be able to play Project V until sometime in 2024. A title of this magnitude will take some time to develop and perfect, so this shouldn't be much of a surprise.

But, as we touched on, player feedback will play a critical role in shaping Project V. If you want to leave your mark on Project V, make sure to follow Project V on Twitter and subscribe to the Project V newsletter! The Project V Twitter account is already posting polls to gauge what players would like to see in the Battle Royale, such as whether the focus is on first-person mode, third-person mode, or both.

If you want to make an even larger impact, consider applying for one of the open roles at Oni Studios! The Project V crew is looking for Fortnite creative experts that share their vision for Project V.

With such an emphasis on player feedback, we wouldn't be shocked if Project V offers an alpha and/or a beta playtest ahead of the official release date. Until then, be on the lookout for more information on this exciting new Battle Royale from CouRageJD, Nickmercs, SypherPK, Ninja, and TimtheTatman.

Do you think Project V can give Fortnite a run for its money?
