The Overwatch League’s sixth season has finally kicked off, with multiple teams competing for the glorious trophy. The program is also designed to reward loyal fans with a range of exciting benefits, including league tokens.

These tokens can eventually be used to purchase team skins and exclusive cosmetics. Fortunately, earning Overwatch League tokens is relatively easy, thanks to the new Twitch and YouTube drop system. Follow our rundown below to learn more.

How to get tokens

To earn Overwatch League tokens, you will have to watch the Overwatch League broadcast on YouTube or Twitch. However, before that, make sure you must link your Battle.net account either with your Twitch or YouTube account to be eligible for the rewards in-game.

Follow these instructions to connect a Twitch.tv or YouTube account to your Battle.net account.

Twitch

  • Log in to your Battle.net account
  • Go to your Battle.net Connections page
  • Click Connect next to Twitch and follow the instructions

YouTube

  • Login to your YouTube account
  • Go to your YouTube Connected Apps page
  • Click Connect next to Battle.net and follow the instructions

After successfully linking your accounts, you can finally watch the Overwatch League matches and earn free Overwatch League tokens. The system keeps track of your viewing time, meaning if you watch 30 minutes of a live match and come back later for another 30 minutes, you will be credited with one hour of total viewing time. However, it’s worth noting that viewing time can only be accumulated during live matches.

How many tokens can you earn per hour?

Blizzard has confirmed that fans will receive 5 tokens per hour for all matches they watch during the Overwatch League opening weekend.

As mentioned earlier, these tokens can be used to purchase team skins, with each outfit usually costing around 100 tokens. However, it's worth noting that players will require a valid Overwatch game license to redeem League Tokens for in-game items. Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or Nintendo Switch players must have their Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo account linked to their Battle.net account.

Besides these tokens, players can also receive the CONTENDERS AND CHAMPIONS Spray after watching Overwatch League for 2 hours and the EAST TO WEST Name Card after watching for 4 hours.
