As important as having a healer in Overwatch 2 is, it’s just as important to make sure you have a character who is upfront and in the centre of all the action. Tanks are a vital part of what helps each match of Overwatch 2 keep ticking. Whether it’s absorbing a majority of the enemies' firepower, or brute forcing their way through hordes of foes - teams with a tank in their forefront often find their way to success.

One of the best to use is Wrecking Ball, a unique take on a hamster in his ball. Equipped with a mech suit and the fast traversal of the animal itself, it’s a fantastic option for players who want a mixture of damage, health, and traversal. If you’re looking to check out Wrecking Ball in Overwatch 2, here’s everything you need to know.

As with any tank character, you’re going to want to be at the forefront of the battle in Overwatch 2 when playing as Wrecking Ball. Equipped with two machine guns, you’re able to distribute a ton of damage if you manage your shots correctly. It can be easy to aim and spray, but short focused bursts are more effective at disposing of the enemy. Be aware it does have a lengthy reload time, so avoid doing so in the heat of battle if you can.

If you are finding yourself in a tricky spot, you thankfully have a wide range of options. If you think you can survive the fight, activating your Adaptive Shield is a great choice. You’ll be able to absorb an additional bit of damage and may be able to use this extra wiggle room to dispose of the enemies that have you pinned down. It’s only activated for a limited amount of time, so you will have to weigh up your options.

Of course, the Adaptive Shield is but only one tool you can use. If you’re fearing you may not emerge from the fight with your life intact, the Roll ability is a great alternative. Your mech will turn into a ball, and you will be able to freely roll around the map for as long as you like. If you’re in a particularly tough spot, we recommend bundling it with the Grappling Hook ability. This will propel you forward to escape much faster than you initially would.

The Grappling Hook ability can also be utilized to traverse to hard-to-reach spots. This can be a great method to get the jump on enemies, flank, or even just get a wider view of the map. You can also use this opportunity to scan the upcoming battlefield and assist your team in plans for moving forward.

Once your Ultimate Ability has been charged, you will be able to deploy your Minefield. This is a powerful attack against foes, especially in objective-based modes that are based around a single location. It prevents the enemy from entering and also takes down anyone already inside. Mixing all of these attack and defensive options together as Wrecking Ball is a recipe for success in Overwatch 2.
