After the Overwatch 2 PvP update, it’s clear that many huge changes are on their way to the next chapter of the Overwatch story. Big changes to the game’s meta and structure are approaching, and some big shifts in gameplay are coming too. Both Mei and Winston have been shown to have all new changes to their gameplay, and while some are pleased, it’s clear that some other players will be shifting over to new characters. It’s just as well, then, that a character who’s been requested by fans to join the game for a long time will be making her debut in Overwatch 2.

Sojourn has been a prominent figure in the extended lore of the world of Overwatch, and fans have been hoping to see her added for a long time - but who exactly is she? And what will she be bringing to the game?

Who Is Sojourn?

Sojourn is one of the earliest members of Overwatch, joining the organisation in its golden age and staying with them for some time. She can be seen in an old Overwatch cartoon that sees the heroes in their best years of operation, leading fighters in a battle against Talon. Though severely outnumbered, Sojourn and her team are still able to wipe out every adversary in the battle.

She was responsible for the movement that saw Doomfist’s accountant Maximilien arrested, and offered Soldier: 76 and Reinhardt great comfort in the aftermath. Sojourn is responsible for deploying Tracer and her strike team to capture him and can be heard via comms in the Havana mission. She was a great leader in Overwatch before its disbandment and afterwards laid low in Canada. She fought back against the Omnics in Toronto and rejoined the team shortly after Paris’ Null Sector attack.

There’s very little known about her as a character, but we’re yet to find out more, as she’s said to be “right at the centre” of Overwatch 2’s story. Her character can be seen wielding a large railgun, and is supposedly a character that will be a big fan with players that have “great aim”. She’s rumoured to be a DPS character, though many still speculate she’ll end up in a tank role.

Overwatch’s first Canadian hero is still shrouded in mystery despite her presence in the game's lore, but there’s yet more to uncover. She’s one of a few new characters coming to the game, and we can’t wait to get to know them.
