The Overwatch Team is celebrating diversity and acceptance with Overwatch 2's first Pride event. Limited-time events are commonplace in Overwatch 2, and this special event offers themed cosmetics, map changes, and even a short story to draw interest. This primer covers all the details of the Overwatch 2 Pride event.

The Overwatch 2 Pride event kicks off June 1, 2023, coinciding with Pride Month. The event is expected to run for at least the remainder of Season 4 before Season 5 begins on June 13. However, it's possible that the festivities carry on for the entire month of June!

To celebrate Pride Month in Overwatch 2 and allow players to express their true selves, everyone that logs into Overwatch 2 after June 1 will receive an array of cosmetics that call attention to the many diverse identities that make up the LGBTQ+ community. 

These fantastic cosmetics include Player Icons, Name Cards, and a Spray. Of the Name Cards, a few are dedicated specifically to Overwatch 2's LGBTQ+ heroes.

The Overwatch Team is publishing a brand-new short story alongside the Pride event. Titled 'As You Are', the story revolves around Baptiste, Cassidy, and Pharah, returning home from an Overwatch mission in Seoul. The tale reveals key new details on the identities of Baptise and Pharah and all but makes official Pharah's crush on Mercy.

Overwatch 2 Pride: Map changes

The Overwatch 2 Pride event sees a couple of the game's maps receive some Pride-themed makeovers. Midtown is now a hub for all things LGBTQ+, as Pride flags fly confidently and rainbow confetti and paint cover the streets and crosswalks. Watchpoint: Gibraltar features an ode to Pride as well, with a new photo in the barracks of Tracer and her partner Emily.

That just about covers the Overwatch 2 Pride event. Celebrate diversity in Overwatch 2 by participating in this month-long in-game event highlighting the LGBTQ+ community.
