In the case of Overwatch 2, you occasionally just want to drop in and watch matches unfold rather than jumping into the action directly. Simply just watching your friends can be an enjoyable experience on its own. Luckily, the game offers the ability to spectate, meaning you don’t need to log in to Twitch to see other players in their games.

If you’re curious as to how the spectate feature works in Overwatch 2, here’s everything you need to know.

How do you spectate?

Watching your friends can be just as exciting as participating yourself. Seeing your nearest and dearest pull off trick shots and perform some incredible feats can be an exhilarating experience.

Thankfully, it’s relatively simple to spectate. Unfortunately, you can’t just spectate anyone, but if you have someone on your friends list in a match, you have the option to do so. It’s also worth noting you can only spectate in Quick Play, Arcade, and Custom Games - you can’t do so in Competitive Matches.

Once your friend is in an applicable match, go to your friends list and look for their name. Simply select it and press the option to spectate them. If you join a group that is already in a match, you can also spectate while you await the next game.

It’s a handy tool and can give you some entertainment while you’re waiting, eating, or simply lazing around for the evening. Spectating in Overwatch 2 couldn’t be easier!
