You can use Bastion's Recon configuration on maps where long-range engagements are a thing. While the fire rate of Bastion's weapon is sure reduced by 50%, on the positive side, you get zero weapon spread, making it easier to snipe opponents from mid and long-range somewhat.

Bastion's new Secondary Fire, Tactical Grenade, covers a large AoE and deals massive damage. So if you find more than one opponent at a location, you can use the Tactical Grenade. And since it can bounce off walls and stick to enemies and the floor, you can aim and hit enemies hiding behind the cover.

The most fun rework Bastion has received in Overwatch 2 is the Sentry configuration now being mobile. You literally become a small tank with a Gatling gun that fires a barrage of bullets; by the way, there's no ammo limit.

Bastion's previous ultimate Configuration: Tank got replaced by Artillery, a new skill that gives you an eagle eye on the game map, where you can select three spots to unleash long-range artillery strikes. We recommend using this ability to assist your team and use it when your team is near the opponent and ready to strike them. You can also use it to finish kills. Sometimes we are in situations where the enemy is very low by managing to strike down our team members. A good call from the team, and you can strike the opponent from your location.
