The Chains of Hades are a brand-new weapon in Fortnite, courtesy of the overseer of The Underworld himself, and it's just as fierce as the other Olympian Powers introduced in Chapter 5: Season 2.

This primer details how to get the game's latest Mythic weapon, the Chains of Hades, and how to best use them to defeat your foes!

How to get the Chains of Hades

As you might guess, you can get the Chains of Hades by defeating Hades. Venture to The Underworld and summon Hades, then defeat him and his Silver-Armoured Minions to receive Hades' Harbinger SMG, the Aspect of Syphon, Gold Bars, and more useful supplies.

However, that's not the only way to get the Chains of Hades! Like the Wings of Icarus and Thunderbolt of Zeus, you might get lucky and find this new Mythic weapon as floor loot or in Chests across the Island.

The Chains of Hades are capable of a few different attack types. Press the Left Mouse Button (RT/R2/ZR on Controller) for a basic attack that deals 40 damage on impact. You can also opt to combine these attacks and deliver a three-hit combo that deals 40 damage on the first and second hits and 70 damage if you manage to land the finishing hit.

Alternatively, you can use the Chains of Hades to pull a target toward you in a manner that resembles something out of Mortal Kombat. Hold the Right Mouse Button (LT/L2/ZL on Controller) to aim, and when you're ready, press the Left Mouse Button (RT/R2/ZR on Controller) to whip the Chains of Hades at a target. If you make contact, you'll deal 30 damage, and it'll hook them in like a fish!

All-in-all, the Chains of Hades are devastating in close-range combat, capable of dealing a whopping 160 damage in a single combo that only takes a couple of seconds to pull off. The ability to pull targets toward you is useful, too, as it'll almost definitely catch your opponent off guard, and you can follow it up with additional hits from Hades' Olympian Power or simply swap to a Shotgun to deal the final blow.

The Chains of Hades snuck into the game early via Supply Drops in Team Rumble, but now they're finally available across Fortnite! Try your luck at finding them in Chests and as floor loot, or go head-to-head with the overseer of The Underworld himself, Hades, for a guaranteed drop.
