The switch from CS:GO to CS2 saw some features disappear, such as the ability to customise and remove movement bob during gameplay.

The game recently got an update which changed the bob animation, but this made it much worse for many people (including myself), so you may want to know how to bring back the old version. Check out the process of changing bob settings below.

How to change bob settings

While there are no specific settings in the menu for changing or altering the bob animation in CS2, you can change to the old animation by using the in-game console. Here's the full process:

  • Ensure the console is enabled
    • Go to the settings cog at the top left of the main menu
    • Select the 'Game' tab
    • Locate 'Enable Developer Console (~)' and change it to 'Yes'
  • Load into a match
  • Open the console with the tilde key (left of 1 on the keyboard)
  • Type "cl_usenewbob 0" into the console
  • Press the Enter key to confirm

I recommend spending some time with both bob animations to properly compare the two and see which one suits you better.

As I said above, there are no settings in the menu for bob animations like CS:GO, so you can't remove it completely or alter it to the point of being barely noticeable.

If Valve adds the ability to customise bob further in the future, we'll make sure to update this guide with any additional details. For now, though, this is the main way to change the bob setting in-game.
