Valheim Just Axed Most Of Its 2021 DLCs
Iron Gate Studios’ Valheim has made quite a name for itself, and it isn’t even fully out yet. Much like Splitgate, the game’s early access has garnered a huge following and elevated the game to one of incredible potential.
The whopper sandbox survival title sees players prepare to take on the mighty Odin himself in a bid to prove themselves worthy of a seat in the halls of Valhalla - and fans are loving it so far.
But there’s every chance that the game’s fans are about to be pretty disappointed. Valheim just canned all of the DLCs it had planned to release by the end of the year.
Valheim Just Canned the rest of its 2021 DLCs
Iron Gate Studios’ latest update on the game’s Steam page is likely to be an upsetting one, as they have announced that they’re not going to be able to follow through with their ambitious roadmap for the year. “As we’re sure lots of you suspected, we won’t be able to deliver four updates this year”, they begin. “Instead, we’re now planning to launch Hearth & Home in Q3 2021, and we’re temporarily taking down the roadmap whilst we make some changes. We are sorry it’s taken us so long to update you.”
It’s a big shame for fans of the indie game, and though Valheim was expected to unveil four DLCs by the end of 2021, the team must have taken on too much work for them to manage - especially as they have revealed why they’ve made this move.
Valheim’s DLCs Have Been Pushed Due To Player Numbers
The team has suggested that the problems in developing the DLCs are down to the huge influx of players that the game has received so far.
“We weren’t prepared for such a large influx of players, and this highlighted a thousand new problems and bugs that needed to be fixed urgently. Our priority has been to make the current experience as stable as possible and this has meant new content has taken a backseat. To put it clearly; we haven’t been able to focus all of our resources on Hearth & Home until May.”
It’s a shame that the team have to push back the content they wanted to make, but it’s a necessity to hold up Thor's hammer as and more players get into it. Fingers crossed Iron Gate will get things developed soon, but chances are, the players will understand either way.
