There are a lot of similarities between Tamriel and Hyrule. Both are vast and sprawling backdrops with mountainous ranges, deep canyons, and snowy peaks. Both are plagued by magic and monsters, and both rely on a singular hero to save the day. However, a new Skyrim mod has just brought the worlds of The Elder Scrolls and The Legend of Zelda together in a big way.

2021 is a milestone year for Skryim, as the open-world RPG marks a whole decade of spells and slaughter. Bethesda is celebrating this by adding fishing to the game for the Skyrim Anniversary Edition - which we hope will also give the graphics a tweak. By modern standards, things are looking a little dated, but not if you mod the game up to the hilt and turn it into its very own Breath of the Wild.

What is the Skyrim and Zelda mod?

Although this mod is a not-so-subtle way of copying Nintendo's adventure favourite, redditor u/dvornikk shared a clip where they paraglide down from a mountain range and get the drop on an unsuspecting necromancer. We've got to admit, we're reminded a lot of leaping from the skies and taking out Bokoblins in Breath of the Wild.

The original post has flown up the Skyrim subreddit with nearly 14k upvotes, however, it's caught everyone's attention for a different reason. During the video, the OP can be seen using a mod list that boasts over 500. We're amazed Skyrim can even run with so many tweaks, but showing Bethesda's juggernaut in all its glory, this is a beauty to behold.

Commenters loved the parallels between Skyrim and Zelda, with one player writing, "I see people are transforming skyrim into breath of the wild now". Another added, "I'm so happy Zelda BotW started the paragliding trend. I haven't tried this yet but usually it's a fun addition in every game that's had it since", while a third joked, "The Legend of Dragonborn: Breath of the Fus Ro Dah".

Then again, the conversation turned to Breath of the Wild's not-quite-perfect reputation. Someone else concluded, "Only things I want from BOTW in Skyrim is spears/halberds, better horses, and climbing."

Where can you get the Skyrim paragliding mod?

Namely, most were shocked at how amazing this modded version of the decade-old game looked. It shows the potential of what a fully remastered version could look like, but at the time of writing, we're not expecting the Anniversary Edition to be a next-gen revamp of the classic game. In terms of getting your hands on the paragliding mod, u/dvornikk doesn't reveal where it came from.

Thankfully, NexusMods has the mod you'll need, with the aptly named "Skyrim's Paraglider" ready for download. When you're sick of traversing Tamriel using your feet, horses, or dragons, why not channel your inner Link and glide across the realm in style?

Skyrim has set a high bar for how fantasy games should play, and while we continue the agonising wait for Breath of the Wild 2's release next year, paragliding in Skyrim is a fun waste of time.
