Swapping the mean streets of San Andreas for the snow-capped peaks of Midgard, it didn't take long for modders to combine the fan-favourite God of War and Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Sony Santa Monica's God of War reboot released in 2018, and although it was a PlayStation exclusive for the first four years of its life, it just broke its exclusivity with a PC release. Like any good PC game, the modders soon got hold of the AAA title and let their imaginations run wild.

What Is The GTA And God of War Crossover?

Although we've not seen Thomas the Tank Engine in there yet, modders have added GTA's Carl "CJ" Johnson. As the main protagonist of 2004's GTA: San Andreas, CJ has become an icon of the franchise and synonymous with his "Ah sh*t, here we go again" meme.

On Reddit, u/Ellmerz611 shared a fan-made mod of CJ inside God of War. While CJ doesn't have the muscular presence of Kratos, he fits in surprisingly well when replacing the bearded brute. Instead of using his signature baseball bat, CJ is wielding Kratos' Leviathan Axe.

Someone joked about CJ's iconic train scene and said, "All you had to do was follow the dad, boi!" Another added, "God of hustle, the real OG god," while a third said, "Still better than the definitive edition." It's a pointed jibe at Grove Street Games' maligned GTA Trilogy

Are There More God Of War Mods?

Just like when fans swapped Lady Dimitrescu's face with Thomas the Tank Engine in Resident Evil Village, the only limitation of a modder's capabilities is their imagination. Skyrim is still going strong after a whole decade because the modding community continues to keep it fresh.

At the moment, God of War's mods are largely cosmetic, with bobblehead Kratos, cyclops Kratos, and even googly-eye Kratos. All we need now is for someone to swap Atreus with Barney the Dinosaur and all will be well with the world. Now CJ is in God of War, we can't wait to see the memes roll in. We wonder whether Kratos could beat Big Smoke's order.
