The director behind The Quarry and Until Dawn has confirmed that he's working on a new horror game.

In an interview with VGC, Will Byles said that the next game will be 'just as big' - although there is a slight caveat that it may deviate away from teen horror. He said: "I don’t know how far we can stretch the teen horror thing out further, because especially when we try to stir it up, the number of surprises you can add to that becomes limited,

"The Dark Pictures explores hundreds of variants of the horror genre. What we’re looking at now, and I can’t tell you exactly what it is, is a bit of a diversion away from that sort of standard, but it’s still very much classic horror."

What Can We Expect From The Next Game?

In the interview, Byles said that they have started working on the next game, and that it's similar in size to the recently released The Quarry. He said: "We’ve started working on [the next one]. I can’t really tell you very much at all about it, but we have started. Again, it’s the same sort of horror genre, we’re sticking to that. It’s equivalent in size to The Quarry… and that’s about as much as I can say without giving too much away."

There has been talk in the past from fans about Supermassive Games potentially starting up the Mystery Machine and looking at a Scooby-Doo focused game. One person Tweeted about it, which led to quite the discussion.

In the run-up to The Quarry, Byles told IGN: "Weirdly, when I very first wrote it, the characters in my head were kind of out of Scooby-Doo."

One fan wrote: "Omg yes but also no! You can’t let any of them die." Another one cheered, "To be fair, I WOULD play this. Given that I've enjoyed most of their games and that Scooby-Doo was a cornerstone of my childhood, this is one crossover that I can absolutely get behind."

When Will The Next Game Come Out?

In the interview with VGC, Byles was asked whether fans would have to wait another seven years for the next game, like they did between Until Dawn and The Quarry. However, it looks like we won't have that long to wait this time.

He said: "No, it certainly won’t be the seven years it took between Until Dawn. It will be 2025, or maybe 2026."
