Looking for some new games to play but the pocket is light after shopping for Christmas presents? Look no further, because Fallout 76, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Axiom Verge 2 are now all included as part of the PlayStation Plus Essential subscription. This means you can get your hands on these awesome games at the bargain price point of £6.99 ($9.99) for the monthly subscription. While this, in our opinion, isn’t exactly starting the year with a bang, it might just be enough to justify this month’s subscription.

PlayStation Plus January 2023 Games - Fallout 76

First up, we have Fallout 76. This multiplayer online role-playing game is set in the Fallout universe and takes place in the beautiful (and potentially radioactive) state of West Virginia. In this game, you'll get to rebuild society after a devastating nuclear war by exploring the wasteland, gathering resources, and completing quests. You'll also get to choose your own path by aligning with different factions or striking out on your own. While certainly not without faults and generally not held in the highest regard among fans of the franchise, Fallout still delivers a unique multiplayer angle on the Fallout franchise that’s worth checking out.

PlayStation Plus January 2023 Games - Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Perhaps the better game of the two headline titles is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This single-player action-adventure game follows the story of a young Jedi named Cal Kestis, who is on the run from the Empire after the fall of the Jedi Order. It is therefore your task to make it through the chaos and explore a variety of different planets and use your Jedi powers and combat skills to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. The combat system in this game is deep and immersive, as one might hope to catch a Jedi vibe, allowing you to wield various lightsaber techniques and Force powers.

PlayStation Plus January 2023 Games - Axiom Verge 2

Not to be overlooked is the indie title Axiom Verge 2. This sci-fi action-adventure game is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Axiom Verge and follows the story of a scientist named Elsenova, who finds herself transported to an alternate dimension after a freak accident. You'll get to explore a vast, interconnected world filled with strange technology and stranger creature. The game features fast-paced combat and challenging puzzles, as well as a number of different weapons and abilities to unlock.

While it certainly isn’t the strongest month of PlayStation Plus Essential subscription games, it certainly fills the lull of the holiday season if one wasn’t so lucky to be gifted one of the best games of 2022
