Two worlds have collided in a big way as a new mod has brought Overwatch to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo's popular brawler is known for its epic crossovers, but now, Blizzard Entertainment's first-person shooter has joined the roster - well, sort of.

You can play Doomfist in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

While Smash Bros. has long crossed over with the likes of Mario, Donkey Kong, and Pokemon, more recent additions have included Rabbids, Banjo-Kazooie, and Resident Evil.

There's even been an adorable Vault Boy suit as a nod to Fallout, and yet we still can't get Waluigi. Just weeks ago, the Overwatch bosses said they'd love to see Doomfist in Smash Ultimate, and it didn't take long for someone to make it happen.

Modder CashClay shared their Doomfist skin, which brings the bulky mercenary to Smash Ultimate. The mod uses a reskin of Captain Falcon and features Doomfists signature uppercut.

There's also an impressive version of his Rocket Punch as he zooms across the stage. CashClay explained, "Comes with recolors, UI, voice mod, etc. Even has expressions, I'm learning. Requires arcopolis for the model. Everything else installs with UMM".

While it's far from actually having Doomfist in the game full-time, the mod might be enough to pique the interest of Nintendo and inspire an official Overwatch crossover.

Will there be more Smash Bros. fighters?

Elsewhere, there are already hints of more DLC characters coming to Smash Ultimate after characters including Piranha Plant and Min Min were later additions.

The whole idea of Doomfist in Smash Ultimate came after Overwatch bigwigs Jeff Kaplan and Geoff Goodman championed Doomfist as the character they'd like to see in Nintendo's fan-favourite.

Kaplan originally suggested Tracer as the one he'd like to see cross franchises - which makes a lot of sense given that she's arguably the face of Overwatch. Speaking about Doomfist, Goodman argued, "He’s kind of a fighting game hero already! He’s certainly inspired by fighting games".

Considering both Overwatch and Smash are goliaths in the esports world, it could be a lucrative move on Nintendo's part to bring them together.

Once the door is open, could we then see VALORANT agents also hop over to Smash? Personally, I'd just like to see Winston come to Smash Ultimate and give Donkey Kong a run for his money.
